Its that time of year again. Firstly lets get one thing straight. It is achievement and not personality regardless of the name the BBC decided to give for one reason or another on change.
It has been a difficult one to nail down and i am still hunting for a winner, but i have a big issue with this years fav.
Andy Murray... has won 4 titles in 2015 with only the Madrid Masters being notable in his 4 wins and based on who was in the tournament as rankings go. Are you seriously telling me he is fav for winning one Davis Cup tennis match against a Belgium ranked 16 in the world while all the other players in both teams are ranked anywhere from 60-200 in the world.
Team of the year YES i support that, but not the overall title which if i am being honest is based purely on one match and the silly people of our nation getting a second bite at becoming tennis fans in a year and getting all emotional over how long we have waited when most people before the BBC coverage thought the Davis Cup was a snooker tournament.
Its called team GB in the sport of tennis. If we have changed the rules then i believe a few golfers should have won it in the past based on performance in the Ryder Cup only but they never even got in the short list as it was a team sport and a team effort.
OK..Lizzie Armitstead it is for me
Dominating racing in 2015 what more would you need except for the BBC not giving it any live coverage and getting the name and achievement of 2015 out in the open. But at the end of the day the show will be worth a watch for what it is and your get the impression the BBC does sport in a big way.
Expect to see no advertisement afterwards for some athletics coming live on the red button in FEB when some unknowns will be running around a track on a cold wet night in Gateshead.
I am now putting Eurosport on for some Ski jumping. Ok its not the greatest sport to watch but i have come to the conclusion that the Ski Jumping is a sign of Christmas around the corner over the years, and it gets me shaking off my grumpy old thoughts before the day approaches.
