No, Philippa, as I said in my previous post, I work from home so I am not taking stuff from work to my home to be recycled - but packaging etc from x 14 lunches etc adds up, as does generally being in the house all day as I said before. Cardboard is rarely work related, apart from delivery of cartridges/paper a couple of times a year, it is mostly from food orders for the animals and fits into a recycle container. It is just general waste from leftovers of a house of 8 -9, 7 of which are animals, and one person working at home permanently, very little waste is as a direct result of running a business from home but being at home all day does generate extra general household waste. It adds up to quite a lot over a week, let alone a fortnight. There is no magic wand that says if fewer recycling containers (I have four black bins that are full by the end of each week) are available, there will be less to recycle. The existing amount of recycling has to go somewhere. I suspect most people will just dump it wherever they can. Already many public bins in the streets/parks etc have a whole lot of waste that people have dumped by them - as they can't get the bulk into the bins. Surely we don't want to encourage this? Unfortunately I think the moves by the council will do just that. This is really not going to work. |
