TBH the the issue I have is the loss of the weekly collection rather than getting larger bins, as Liz pointed out above there are many reasons why someone may still need a weekly collection or the requirement to have a larger bin. The number of people in the household is completely irrelevant, and the idea that a family of five can live on three black bin liners over two week period maybe true for some but for most I imagine this will be a stretch. In my case it is not a big deal as I can afford to pay for private pick up, but not everyone can. I would be interested to see what happens next July when the rats and foxes start rummaging through through all the excess bin bags. Also I am being constantly asked how many people are in my household, but this is completely irrelevant, I do not pay my council tax based on that, so why should should my services restricted on that basis. Everyone was against the poll tax, but are now quite happy getting poll services, this does not make any sense. And BTW if you request a larger bin, one will either show up or it won't. The council will not bother responding or discussing it with you (as they are probably all too busy sorting the recycling now). The attitude from them is for us to shut up and keep paying our taxes and parking fines. |
