Strangely enough, I have just cleared out and washed my feeder which has had very few takers over the last month and refilled it with a tempting mix of sunflower hearts, mealie worms, general mix and fatty bits. This morning I was rewarded with about 8 long tailed tits and the odd blue tit. The scarcity of birds could well be down to their decimation, two years in a row, of a nesting sparrow hawk nearby. There is one advantage, not many wood pigeons in the trees over my car. |
