I don't know anything about him. However a school can't be responsible for teaching children all their life skills. There seem to be quite a few parents who seem to think that is the case. "Hard working families" can have its drawbacks - two generations who can't cook so that means a number who can't even boil an egg for a start. It now means that home economics or cookery or whatever the latest version is known as has had to be brought back into the curriculum. There are often other gaps too as seen here - like learning to take responsibility for clearing up after yourself rather than expecting other people to do it for you and also learning to consider others especially those less fortunate than yourself. |
