Sounds like the mercury switch.Same thing happened to ours.There is a switch which keeps the gas flowing when the oven is turned on When you turn the oven on, there is a few seconds delay before the flames flare up.That happens because the switch warms up, Once warm, it allows the gas to flow and the flames flare up.If the switch has gone it won't let the gas flow.If I remember correctly, it took about 2 weeks to get a new switch, and it wasn't cheap. |
