"I have to say I do think Chiswick House is now largely a money-making machine rather than caring for the house/gardens and visitors." I agree with Paul. The gardens are vastly better than they used to be, and I see no sign of a reduction in care. "I thought the old car park was great with its lovely shady trees, the new one is like a typical council one." It might have had lovely shady trees, but that meant it wasn't very good as a car park. The present one can fit in more cars, but is not exactly bereft of trees. Look at the aerial photo below. You can see the "overflow car park" in the north-western part of the walled garden, with its widely-spaced orchard and grassed spaces in between for parking at big events. Beyond that is the kitchen garden. To the left is the triangular-shaped "hockey field", which I think is what you were referring to earlier, and which is not part of the 'expansion' mapped in the LBH draft Traffic Notice. I've e-mailed the CHG Trust to ask them to clarify their intentions about the car park. |
