Time will tell. It could be argued that the rise of Isis/Daesh is the result of not removing Assad a couple of years ago when he started using chemical weapons. Whether it is really possible to shut down Isis/Daesh by a combination of bombing and local resistance fighters is one of the unknown unknowns, and it still leaves open the question of what happens to the Ba'athist regime in Damascus which is ultimately responsible for the miseries of the Syrian civil war. |
