Mousehole (Cornwall), perhaps. Lovely little old port. Quirky end-of-the-world (well, -country) feel. Good local waterfront pub (Ship Inn). Excellent and relaxed restaurant (2 Fore St) - or you can also eat & drink at the Old Coastguard inn. Good scenery and great walks. In easy reach of Penzance station if you don't want to drive down. Plenty of cottages to rent - some smart, some simple. And, bizarrely given the small size of the place, Mousehole also makes quite a big thing of its Christmas lights all round the harbour. |
