Sam, your numbers only make sense if you ignore the capital cost of the aircraft - around £100m. Given that the RAF already owns it, there are arguments for doing so in certain contexts, but if you're comparing the cost of the A330 with commercial charters you really should include depreciation and funding costs on that £100m. Or if the aircraft is otherwise sitting around doing nothing then you should include the opportunity cost of not selling it. |
