Are you seriously saying that it is not easier to see a brightly coloured reflective car, than a black car with it's minimum legal collection of safety features. If it is easier to see such a car (and it is) then it is stupid not to use one. Also, you would expect the 'much more powerful' lights the car is fitted with to illuminate objects in front quite adequately. And that's what I think is odd about Colin's idea - His cyclist would have a little stick poking out of the back of the seat post, with a little led lamp bouncing up and down on the end shining a couple of watts of LED light onto the cyclist's arse. Meanwhile the car coming up behind with over 100 Watts of high intensity Xenon headlamps - that enable the car to travel in safety at 150 mph on unlit roads - is only able to see the cyclist because of his little rear uplighter. |
