Colin, I don't find it objectionable, I just find it unnecessary. Far easier to replace that tiny red rear light with a decent one (say a tenner at a local bike shop) rather than some trick light shining up the rider's back. As an aside, that it also what a driver following a bike expects to see - if they are seeing a partly illuminated jacket, they are more likely to get too close trying to see what on earth it is! LEDs have revolutionised bike lighting in the last few years, both in terms of brightness and battery life (mine recharge by plugging into a USB port). |
