Jeremy Corbyn isn't saying that faced with a situation like the Bataclan that police shouldn't take out terrorists. Unlike many people he hasn't forgotten that this country did once have a shoot-to-kill policy against terrorists and it was indisputably counterproductive with many innocent people ending up dead and resulting in massive propaganda victories for terrorists. The police and security services will always ask for carte blanche at times like this - they should be given rules of engagement make it clear when they can and cannot shoot. |
