I'm so sorry to hear about its passing... it's a truly sad occasion and believe me I feel for you. However the good news is that technology is improving all the time and they are now smarter, better performers and quicker to reach their full potential, and can also cost you less. Irritatingly though you may find some very small print saying how many hours a day (or night) life expectancy has been calculated on. I try to date any new ones so presuming I don't re-home any I'm confident of the age. Unfortunately I can't say that I'm good at keeping hold of the bill of sale for return as a failure but I'm sure this should be possible.  In fact if you are convinced of a fault why not just post back to maker rather than involving the trader? Some older ones do not like the cold so are at their best inside.  I think Which probably has a list of these preferences. Do we really want to be able to tell how many hours of life are left?
