Julia, it is fantastic that you are putting in so much effort to try to reunite this cat with its owner.   May I suggest that you look at the www.catchat.org website - Lost and Found section - there are some good suggestions in there, some of which I know you have already done, about what to do if you find a cat including where to post on missing cat websites.  They do work, many unchipped cats are reunited through people who are missing a cat posting and someone who has posted realising they are talking about the same cat - I love those stories.

There are also breed specific lost and found websites (eg siamese etc) but this sounds like a domestic shorthair.  Best of luck, and if any of mine go missing in the future as they probably will, I hope someone as kind as you comes across them!
