We did, in fact, have an online sales point for the 2014 Chiswick charity calendar with a dedicated web page and credit / debit card purchase system - all thanks to the Parish Office at St Michael and All Angels Church in Bedford Park. But despite being heavily advertised, it did not attract many sales. Obviously the vast majority of our Chiswick calendar sales are to people who live in Chiswick and are able to visit Fosters' Bookshop on the High Road, Top Hat in Devonshire Road or other sales points like Christ Church on Turnham Green and today's (Saturday) 'Chiswick PopUp' at the Barley Mow Passage Club Workspaces. The number of requests for copies we receive every year from Chiswick "exiles" who live elsewhere in the UK or abroad runs into single figures - and we are always happy to post one out in these cases when we can. Some locals also, of course, purchase the calendar to send on to family and friends elsewhere. So while the idea of online sales may initially seem attractive, in truth I don't think such a local W4 product would attract the business to justify it. Happy to be proved wrong but previous experience and the number of non-Chiswick residents who actually want to buy the calendar suggests otherwise. |
