| Somebody suggested Jeremy Hunt would be sacked for the appalling way this has been handled. I beg to differ. Jeremy Hunt is doing precisely the job he was hired to do. In the past he was responsible for publications which called for the end of the NHS and The Daily Telegraph was trumpeting yesterday that it's unsustainable. This is of course utter nonsense: as I point out from time to time the NHS is the most effective health service in the world, by some distance (or at least it was until a couple of years ago). http://www.commonwealthfund.org/publications/fund-reports/2014/jun/mirror-mirror If Hunt succeeds in getting a lot of doctors to resign, that'll be job done. The Conservatives opposed the establishment of the NHS and have tolerated it with gritted teeth for 60 plus years. They finally now see an opportunity to get rid of it, by a combination of squeezing funds and mismanagement and measured against that objective JH is doing a cracking job. |
