My interest in cricket developed around the 1968 Ashes - Boycott, Edrich, Barrington, Cowdrey, Graveney, D'Oliveira - and now another valuable wicket has fallen. I listened to Sir Geoffrey talking about Tom Graveney on TMS this morning - he was a classy batsmen and a nice bloke, although he held strong views and could fall out with people from time to time. I recall when Cowdrey was injured and Graveney took over the captaincy for the 4th Ashes Test at Headingley in 1968, there was a memorable newspaper headline during the match "All-attack Graveney fights on".
