When I was a junior Dr over 20 years ago, we regularly did up to 120 hours per week.  Every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depending on where you worked) we would work from Saturday 9am until Monday 6pm with no official breaks, no lunch hours, and a few hours of snatched sleep here and there if you were lucky.  I would often just go to the toilet to cry and to get a moments peace. Our bleeps would constantly be going off, we would need to be in 3 places at once and it's impossible to describe how bone shatteringly tired we were.  We all made mistakes, thankfully usually minor but it is impossible to make important decisions when you are this tired. In all honesty, I wouldn't work like this again even if they gave me double wages...
