| Social services pay a discounted rate for care homes, typically 2/3 of the "market rate." To qualify for this applicants have to have around £20k or less in assets, can't recall the exact figure. However there are many care homes that will not accept social service rates. There are "top up" schemes available where relatives can make up the difference. Residents have £125 of their £150pw pension benefits put towards the cost of care. |
