It isn't my petition. It's Greenpeace. In June 2011 when Greenpeace started a campaign, VW preferred to remove videos from YouTube rather than talk about the efficiency of their cars. In March 2013 after 526,000 people across the planet joined the campaign they agreed to turn away from the dark side and committed to make cleaner and more efficient cars. Now they've been caught out in the U.S. Hence the global demonisation ( not just Greenpeace) Not all of the vehicles in Chiswick today were VW. The entire industry has to clean up. It just happens to be the biggest car manufacturer in Europe which has been named and shamed. As with Heathrow it's a case of big business at all costs no matter how much suffering it causes. Why should we all have to live with it in the hope of some respite? In China there are areas where no-one can go out at all without wearing masks, not to mention the horror of climate change. This petition is for making affordable clean cars, not just for the wealthy. |
