We put our lit pumpkin out one year. I'd be reluctant to do it again. 'Gangs' of about 10 bigger kids would literally step across your threshold, armed with large supermarket carrier bags, they weren't local. It's a bit intimidating for your kids trying to hand out sweets. So I agree with that post. Fairfax Road this evening: bravo to the brave households who go to great lengths to decorate and accommodate (average 15 large tins of Celebrations per house). My daughter was helping host one house there, she said most kids were polite, but some tried to grab 2 handfuls of sweets each. Especial thanks to 2 houses in Bedford Park: the one with scaffolding, where they'd erected a cinema screen and were showing old black and white horror films; and the one where they'd dug out the front garden as make believe graves, complete with plastic skeletons. I think most kids stick to the 'no lit pumpkin, don't disturb' edict |
