| Exactly. This is not just for "stroppy" Chiswick, it's for the whole borough. It has been demonstrated that petitions will have no effect. It's just a statistic with a percentage against the number of inhabitants who haven't signed, probably because there wasn't one for their area or that they are unaware of the proposals since none of us are informed of them until bins are going to arrive and it's then too late. It is a scheme for raising the recycling percentage or face huge fines. I have repeatedly suggested that a more effective and all inclusive fairer way of doing it would be addressed sacks for scanning , instead of black sacks, and if containing recyclables including food, there is a charge made to meet landfill costs. No bin blight which for many is impractical. Just our own dustbins, clean streets and a huge uptake in recycling. It has been repeatedly ignored with no reasons given. |
