Suggest you pop down to the stall outside of Sainsbury and ask them to order you some, they're very helpful and their standard retail price for candles are cheap as chips, so if you order in bulk you may get a small discount. Also you may want to consider trying to get hold of those victorian oil lamps from antique fairs and shops, I'm lucky and have 2 and they give out a lovely warm light. As far as potential power cuts perhaps it's time both residential and commercial users look at reducing consumption, only have lights on in the rooms being used, maybe turn down heating a few degrees and businesses not have their premises lit up like Christmas Trees, especially when they are closed. The less electricity we use now will help build up reserves for when demand is at its peak. |
