...standard practice was to leave the car unlocked and empty, to save the cost of getting windows replaced. That was back in the days of removable radios, and the friend who lived there just used to unplug his and stick it under the driving seat when he left the car - it was never stolen. Mind you, the car was a company pool car, so not itself that attractive to thieves. |
