Nothing is forever I suppose but I am sad to see the 'poncification' of yet another haunt since my youth. The great thing about the market is the people. They really want to sell you something but not in a pushy way. A small example was just the other day when I was wanting some scissors. The stallholder went out of his way to show me the range he stocked and then what color I wanted, all for a few pounds. Excellent place for luggage as well. I remember going with my parents to buy a school trunk back in the sixties which is still giving good service today and have good quality suitcases bought there some years ago for sensible money. Knowing the end was nigh I went and took lots of photos a few weeks ago so, even when it's gone, I can recall it how it was. I will sign but I fear there is not much hope. |
