The point about the success at junior level is that it is relatively recent at a world level. England has always dominated age grade games amongst the home nations because of better funding and more players to pick from but only recently have been dominant over southern hemisphere nations. Their first World Cup win for a long time was three years ago in South Africa and those players are starting to make the break through at club level for instance Itoje and Clifford. Another win and a final loss since then suggests the pipeline is still functioning. Wales are successful because of an exceptional crop of players, a brilliant captain and two great coaches. |
