Roy, we are getting some indication from the results in junior world cups in recent years which have been dominated by England. Sir Clive Woodward made this point in the Daily Mail this week. With some of these younger players I see the kind of steely eyed determination that was characteristic of the 2003 team and lacking in most of the senior players this year. The interesting question is England's recent domination of underage competitions down to Lancaster? If so England will be making a big mistake when they get rid of him. Structure surely is down to the coach and players know they won't get picked unless they do what he wants. As for defense you could swap Farrell for Ford if you wanted to tighten things up and I think the centres are sound. The wings may be seen as a vulnerability but everyone tells me that Wade is a liability defensively but I saw him recently completely bottle up George North. |
