Do you really think that could ever happen with the EU as it is currently constituted ?

"It is a market for trade...It is a sharing of major investments - space, defence projects, etc..."

Those aims could be achieved without the flawed drive for ever-closer union and the desire to order other member states about, within a free-trade area freed of the baggage the EU was saddled with by its founding fathers.
