Thanks for your reply, Sam, it is always good to hear different points of view. Yes, I am afraid I do feel a bit sour about money being poured out everywhere but the UK when people can't get medical treatment and the drugs they need, a good education because of huge class sizes, hundreds of people on waiting lists for homes, and people using foodbanks in this country, not surprisingly I think. Regarding the prisons - Jamaica has prisons already. The only reason Jamaicans who commit crimes in this country are not sent to them is because of human rights laws that say they are not fit for purpose. But surely the Jamaican prison system is more than just about infrastructure, it is about the way prisoners are treated too, so I am not convinced this will help us return the 300 or so Jamaicans currently in our jails. As to nuclear power stations, that is another issue - should a foreign power such as China that many are deeply suspicious of be building such critical infrastructure in the UK (with a lot of funding from us I am sure and a lot of profits for them, they are not doing it for altruism). And all this money for the EU - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3254188/EU-asks-Britain-money-battles-migrant-crisis.html - it would be interesting to hear your views on that, Sam. |
