I was fascinated by the stuff about the role of women in Ancient Greece, specifically Athens. There was a phrase that particularly struck home that went something like "in order to find similar treatment of women in the modern world you would have to go the Taliban occupied parts of Afghanistan or Pakistan". Very thought provoking. Lord Bragg did an excellent Radio 4 programme on Hildegard of Bingen in his In Our Time series - still available as a podcast. A tough Lady. Some similarities with Hilda Roberts of Grantham? |
