Firefox has a number of useful facilities and add-ons to block adverts, and security risks including javascript and Adobe Flash. It is also able to clear "cookies" dumped by various websites. Cookies are perhaps a good idea that has been corrupted way beyond the original intention. I am using Iceweasel (Free Open Source Firefox without the Copyright name) running on a Knoppix Live DVD. I also have an IPCop firewall box between my broadband connection and the rest of my system that has blocked more junk from Google addresses than any other sources (including Russia, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and South America) |
