The wind is from the east at the moment so aircraft are landing over the M25 and taking off towards us - normally (70% of the time) it's the other way round. As others in the thread have said, departing aircraft aren't supposed to fly directly over Chiswick (the preferred routes are here: http://www.heathrow.com/file_source/HeathrowNoise/Static/Easterly_operations_NPRs.pdf) so a direct overflight would have an unusual cause like a go-around. |
