Consider this - an opposition party has circa 100 people (In this case, out of 220 odd Labour MPs) on the payroll vote: Shadow cabinet types, shadow ministers and spear carriers (PPSs).  B&I's MP may well be offered a spear carrier job, and her decision will involve weighing up the the following - 'being a team player', being in 'the heart of government' (as the spear carrier to the minister for paper clips) and the consequences of being part of an opposition which may well not have won many of what I will term Chiswick points come 2020.
