…. ”This has been going for some time...” .. not quite Philippa (one of my favourite regular W4 posters)... Sure, it was there last year. But nowhere near as wonderful. I went today looking for my man who flogs partridge, grouse and mallard. But he wasn't around. Last year there were just a few interesting cookery stalls amongst the usuals frying up sausages and bacon (yum) and this and that. It was all very down-market, albeit interesting. Today all that 'downmarket' had gone, including the man with the game. The real cooks have moved in... I tell you, walking back and passing the lunchtime diners on CHR (High Road House – Bills etc etc) I couldn't help thinking that (at £6 a go) the diners in Lyric Square were enjoying something far more gastro-exquisite than anyone eating out in Chiswick could ever imagine... |
