The current ban also means it is very difficult to do research; for example, a huge amount of paperwork and administration just to legally import a banned substance. So not only is cannabis banned, there is very little research being done in the UK on its possible medical uses. A drugs company will be reluctant to spend billions developing a product that may be banned at the whim of a politician who wants to ingratiate themselves with the Daily Mail (rumoured to be the reason why the current ban is in place...) |
