Michael None of this is about "what I want". I am not on a personal anti-CPZ crusade here, really I'm not. The fact is that the vast majority of Grove Park residents simply don't wants a CPZ (the last time they were all asked, the results indicated that 92% of residents were firmly against CPZ). So please don't suggest that this is something "I want", or that I am merely fighting my own corner here. All I want is that our council fairly and transparently reflects the views of the majority of residents, or at least is honest about why they won't be doing that. I know some residents (probably a lot) have problems with parking, and feel that a CPZ is the right answer. I respect that, which is why I would encourage ALL residents to complete and return these consultation forms. Who knows? Perhaps views have changed, and the majority of residents are now in favour of a CPZ. If that's the case then I have no problem with it. But to date, the council have blatantly ignored the views of the majority of residents, and that cannot be right. I don't want to get into an argument about the rights or wrongs of CPZ versus no CPZ. To be honest I really don't care that much about CPZ, as I have made clear on so many posts over the last few years (even though some people still think I am a dedicated anti-CPZ campaigner. I'm not). All I want is to see some local democracy and transparency from our council. And sadly, they continue to demonstrate their utter contempt for this. That is why I continue to post here. |
