"World's gone mad, I tell you." obviously reflects your feelings but the sad truth is that with greater use of iPhones, etc and the ease of communicating with others through this medium one suspects you will see more of this behaviour. Belatedly perhaps restaurants will need to decide what rules they want to play by and be consistent in their enforcement. The common theme seems to be parties and groups being sat next to smaller groups who would like peace and quiet. Smarter restaurants (not just based on price) will place such parties if possible in areas where they cause least conflict (I suspect very few will ban outright such activity) in reconciling the different types of customers they cater for. As an earlier posting explains the Barnes restaurant named approved and then did little to handle correctly. Maybe starting at home in stopping family members using such devices or reading at the table during meals may start to help people be more considerate when outside home? |
