Didn’t LBOH hand over the running of the transport and access policy for Dukes Meadows some years ago.? The trust consulted on behalf of LBOH with he local residents, other Dukes Meadows Stake Holders , held public meetings for input into the way the the vehicle access, cycle routes, runners, dog walkers and general pedestrians can all us the park safely. Certain control measures were identified to control large vehicle delivery to the relevant Clubs, plus cycle routes and pedestrians walkways. All this work was very time consuming bearing in mind the trustees who had to work anti social hours are unpaid and carrying out the meetings in their own time. After all the work by the trust and a odd appearance a LBOH officer nothing was ever carried out from the Transport and Access Policy. On the response from Steve Curran In particular we experienced incursions by travellers and an increased level of reports of anti-social behaviour which have generated many complaints. Every open space is open to travellers stopping and using the area if controls aren’t in place. Measures were Installed some years ago after a large invasion on the recreation area. But LBOH had a dedicated officer who used to deal with travellers, he often got wind of travellers heading for a certain area. If travellers did park up without him knowing, because of his expertise they were soon moved on, the only problem, LBOH got rid of the position, so now it relies on the public to inform the Council. A lot of so called anti social behaviour is based on the very large gathering of Eastern Europeans on a Sunday, these residents mainly come from North London and Westminster, apart from breaking the Council by-law of lighting BBQ's I cannot see what other problem they are creating. Maybe if LBOH reinstated a dedicated parks patrol for the larger parks in the borough they maybe able to stop and have a word with any large group of people, who maybe be considered threatening by other park users, at the moment it relies on a odd police patrol who may turn up or not. |
