I bet this as all started since a certain person has left the employ of LBOH. If LBOH were/ are willing to sell off or lease public parks in the borough for temporary schools and grazing for horses, then I can see what’s going to happen. I can see the old CIP Idea of making dukes meadows into a number of smaller areas, so to down grade the park, which in turn will down grade the Council maintenance they are obliged to carry out. After all the hard work of local people who volunteered their time and energy to clear up the park, create a friends group, which finally turned into a charity, to be treated in this way goes to show the contempt LBOH has for for an organization that has worked very hard to obtain over a Million pounds of funding needed to build the water play area and adventure playground. To keep these facilities free to the public the Dukes Meadows Trust had to create their own revenue stream by starting the Sunday market, Creating 10 artist studios, now extended by additional five, obtaining an empty property grant to refurbish the old derelict park keepers flat. The income from these social enterprises goes straight back into the park for maintenance and any upgrades to the recreation area and equipment, going by Kathleen Healy post, there has to be something wrong when LBOH quoted £1000 for a swing repair and Timber Play quoted and completed the job for £300. After Dukes Meadows winning a green flag award I would have thought the the Stake Holders of the park should have been consulted by LBOH as to what they had in mind before going to the Chiswick forum meeting and presenting their plan. |
