As a Virgin broadband paying customer, I had an email last week explaining Virgin will roll out their SuperHub as nationally as possible. They want to create a free bigger network . They use my hub; add a seperate connection, so anyone within radius / passing my house can access Virgin wifi. They say this will not interfere with my wifi connection, they just leapfrog it, so loss of power / security etc. If I agree, I do nothing (that's probably a decent proportion of people who don't read emails). If I 'opt out': I can't benefit from other people's hubs / the increased network. It seems sensible to agree, (although why should I pay so the neighbours get free wifi?) but I would be grateful for any other views on this issue from broadband experts, or what other Virgin customers think / have done? |
