The problem with banning commuter parking is that it addresses the symptoms, not the cause. If someone is prepared to take the train from Kew Bridge, Gunnersbury or Kew Gardens, then presumably they would be prepared to do so from a park-and-ride scheme elsewhere if that was made more convenient for them and did not include a significant financial penalty. Park-and-rides work in places like Oxford and Shrewsbury, and while I appreciate that London is a different ball-game size-wise, it might be worth pursuing. |
