Claire...

You sound really nice.  Well done for coming on here and explaining your position.  What on earth gave you the idea you'd be pilloried for doing so?

Can I simply say one thing...  Beware!

You and your colleagues (strikers particularly) should really beware you don't kill stone-dead the goose that laid your very own golden egg.

Tube drivers are very well paid.  And fairly so.  As opposed to our bus drivers who are sorely under paid.. but that's an aside.

Turn the clock back to the 1960's and 1970's.  This country was largely governed by our trades union movement.  Elections were won and lost on who was most likely to get along with the powerful unions.   Union bosses were in-and-out of 10 Downing Street day in day out year in year out, feasting on beer and sandwiches as they wielded their influence (on behalf of their members) across the entire fabric of our wonderful nation.

What happened in a few short years after 1979 isn't for now..

What is for now is that almost in the blink of an eye the once powerful unions were reduced to an almost powerless sideshow in British life.  Never has such a seat of power been reduced to impotence over such a short space of time.   Quite an achievement.  The tale of Arthur Scargill and the miners..

So can I say simply ….

If it's true that we can run trains without drivers...

If that's true..

then do beware...

If I were one of you lot, I'd keep rather shtum, keep banking the salary - and turn up for work....

just suggestin'
