Yes, Andy, I know, I had one from when she was a three month old puppy - put up for sale by the family she had been bought by as a puppy as they couldn't handle her - until we had to put her down when she was 19 as she was having fits. Apart from the time I was away at University she was my constant companion day and night and the most amazing dog. Although I could exercise one enough physically, at the moment I don't have enough time to deal with the mental demands of a border collie - much easier if you have a lot of kids around as there were when I was growing up - but if I ever manage to retire then that's what would have. Although they are so long-lived, I would probably have to get an older one rather than a pup, but would have to be one ok with feisty terriers (although they will be in their dotage by then) and cats. I so want another border collie but now is not the right time, it will be worth the wait.
