Sage advice from Gordon, Miguel. There are considerable numbers of Brazilian over-stayers working illegally in London, and the Border Force is always suspicious of new arrivals, particularly young ones. I know of several cases where genuine visitors have been sent straight back, even though they had no intention of overstaying or working illegally. The Border Force staff have total discretion to refuse admission, and don't have to give reasons. They may look at any correspondence your girlfriend is carrying with her as potential evidence of an intention to work, and they may refuse admission if she isn't carrying sufficient funds for the duration of her visit. The only way your girlfriend could legally work here would be part-time, if she were accepted for a course at a UK university or Higher Education Institute. But that would all have to be arranged before applying for a Tier 4 visa. |
