haven't watched it yet so going out on a limb here. however, in terms of what you said georgie i think the difference is: the 13 years prisoner will be able to apply to the parole board for release after 6 1/2 years. as long as he hasn't been in much trouble during sentence its is usually granted. however, the life sentence of 17 years is they will have to do the whole 17 years before they even start working towards parole boards and moving to open condition prisons to work towards day release/community work. when they finally are released they are on a life license their entire life. if they re-offend in any way they are re-called to prison immediately whatever the offence. they have to prove then they can live in the community without offending which sometimes takes years. |
