| Have just received from Hounslow a a form to confirm details for the Electoral Register. It offers an online option as nothing in our house has changed. I duly completed the form online and then realised that, unlike the paper version, there is no option to opt out of the open register. Last year, I went through the same process and found that (after many years of opting out) our details were being sold as we had been put back into the open register. Letters complaining to Hounslow were simply ignored and we had months of unsolicited mail to contend with. I wondered how much money the Council made out of our details without our permission. |
