I agree.   I took a very old battered pair of M & S boots to that posh cobbler round the corner, opposite the green and he turned his nose up and refused to touch them on the grounds they were cheap and passed repair.  Maybe but I still wore them.  I then took them to the cobblers near CHR traffic lights and they repaired admirably with no snidey comments, so guess who has my custom now, and moreover who doesn't.
