So, whilst TGCC 'thrashed' the Abo's in Goldhawk Road (Hammersmith) Some 20 years later the Australians actually played in Chiswick ... just off Sutton Court Road! A toff called C Thornton organised celebrity matches and his team held the Aussies to a draw at Chiswick Park Sports Ground (now St Thomas' Estate Thornton , I understand, was a 'throwing the cricket ball champion as well. Yes I'd like to see your gem of a book sometime....( that reminds me I must return a book (about Strokes) to Stuart!) |
