I can't see to get clarity on this query anywhere so thought someone on here might be able to advise... Whilst I'm inbetween jobs, we're spending 2 weeks in North America later this month, including a longish stay in Vegas. We booked a Vegas hotel (and paid in advance) through lastminute.com and I'm fully aware of the need to pay resort fees (plus tax on that resort fee) when we arrive at the hotel. I've also read about a 12% sales tax and that's where I'm confused - does the price already paid include that sales tax or not ?. Lastminute's T&C's say : "Hotel rates stated on our Booking Channels are inclusive of VAT (where applicable) and all fees, and are calculated on a ‘per room’, ‘per night’ basis. Please note that hotel rates do not include the following additional costs (where applicable): local city, tourist, resort or other taxes which need to be paid directly to the accommodation provider." Reading that, to me the 12% sales tax is charged at point of sale, i.e. in this case I've already paid that to Lastminute, and the only additional charge when we arrive is the resort fee and 12% tax on that resort fee, as opposed to also paying 12% of the payment I've already paid to Lastminute. But it would be appreciated if anyone who has been to Vegas and prebooked a hotel could clarity what they had to pay on arrival. |
